In order to minimize weight of the vehicle, the frame of the vehicle is made from a carbon fiber composite monocoque with a foam core. In a monocoque structure, the strength comes from the skin of the vehicle as opposed to a separate internal frame, much like the exoskeleton of an insect. This technology is found in exotic sports cars and professional race vehicles. The frame was optimized using finite element analysis.
